Death Guard Daemon Prince

A Nurgle Daemon Prince never leaves home without his nurgling

The final character for this batch of commissions, (there might be a Morty in the future- which I would love to paint in this scheme) the daemon prince on foot. I had to go with the axe and felt pretty good about my rust as I dialed it up as much as I could. I think painting super rusty things going forward I will paint them in reverse, starting with the dark brown of the rust as a basecoat for the recesses and then adding brighter orange to the middle with edge highlighting with silvers. That makes the metal feel more like the rust is being removed from this prince swinging and cutting space marines in half.

Also tried a warm/cold contrast on the forwards and backwards of the model. The front is highlighted with a warm yellow and the back is highlighted with everything tinted with a bit of dark Prussian blue and highlighted with an ice blue. I think I could have gone even more into this effect but it’s visually interesting enough.
